Past Service Projects

Bread Pickup

For several years, the Rotary Club of Forest picked up bread, cookies, etc. from the Memorial Avenue Food Lion and delivered it to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. This community service allowed the BRAFB volunteers and staff to concentrate on providing meals to the Lynchburg area residents who are in need.

Bedford County Shredding Event

April 2022 and June 2023 we volunteered to help the Bedford County Sherriff’s office with at community drug take-back and shredding event.

Valor Farms

The Rotary Club of Forest is in partnership with the National Center for Health Veterans and participates in construction an clean-up events at Valor Farms in Altavista.

Warm Streets Backpack Project

In December 2021 the Rotary Club of Forest purchased necessary items for the homeless of the community and put them in backpacks for easy distribution. We also created snack bags and donated over 200 gift cards for McDonalds.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

In December 2021 and 2022 the Rotary Club of Forest rang the bell to help collect donations for the Salvation Army.

Valor Farm Altavista

In November 2021 the Rotary Club of Forest worked at Valor Farm in Altavista doing various maintenance activities.

Field of Honor

From September 4th through 18th 2021 the Rotary Club of Forest hosted the 4th Annual Field of Honor.

Clean Sweep

In July 2021, Rotary Club of Forest cleaned up Enterprise Drive in Wyndhurst.

 

Park View Community Missions

May 2021, Rotary Club of Forest held a Snack Donation Event to help fill up the Park View Mission van so they can provide snacks to hungry children in our area.

Red Kettle Bell Ringing

December 2020 Forest Rotarians rang the Bell for The Salvation Army.



WINGS Burundi Service Project

150 WINGS Feminine Health kits to give to schoolgirls in Burundi, Africa. Each kit helped a girl manage her period in dignity for up to 3 years.

 


Field of Honor Flag Display

Annual fundraiser honoring active and retired military, fallen veterans, and first responders. Over 1,000 flags are displayed at Automated Conveyor Systems (ACS) in Forest, VA and majority of proceeds of the fundraiser go back into doing good in our local community.

India Water and Sanitation Global Grant

Forest Rotary Club participated in The Rotary Foundation’s Rotary Club of Madras Water and Sanitation Global Grant Phase I for Pandur Village that provided 170 toilets of 223 to make the village open defecation free.

American Red Cross Comfort Kits & Backpacks

When the Red Cross shows at a home fire, they supply comfort kits which contain items that are needed immediately along with Cat Sacks and Doggie Bags for the pets of the home fire. Donations from The Rotary Club of Forest has now made it possible for the kids who lost everything in the fire to receive backpacks so they have what they need to get back to school as soon as possible.

Bread Pickup at the Memorial Ave Food Lion

The Rotary Club of Forest regularly picks up bread from the Food Lion on Memorial Avenue to transport it to the Blue Ridge Food Bank every Monday and Wednesday through out the year.
